Age is Just a Number Not a Definition of Our Fitness

Posted by whatsapp status on March 22, 2017 with No comments
Age is just a number. Some of us believe it holds a negative stigma as we get older. This is far from the truth and each day should be considered a gift and every age a celebration. Wear it proudly!

We are never too old to get fit and it really comes down to feeling our healthy best at every age. Honestly, I don't even think about my age unless someone makes a comment. Being fit and having a positive attitude makes me feel youthful and excited about living.

Each day is a new chance to make better choices physically, nutritionally, and mentally. How exciting is that! I like to start each day being thankful for the many blessings in my life. I have been through a tough journey and still standing, extremely happy, and going strong with my fitness.

Aging is really a state of mind. I refuse to get all hum-drum about getting older but focus on what I can do to improve my life through the aging process. What it comes down to is not my age but what I'm doing through the ages to make a positive difference.

I can sit around like a bump on a log, depressed, and seeing my life as half over or embrace that my life is more than half full. I choose the latter and enjoy the challenge of becoming stronger physically and mentally.

Sometimes aging holds a stigma of grandma wearing frumpy clothes shuffling along with hair always in a bun. Far from the truth speaking as a Nana. When not in the gym, I enjoy wearing trendy clothes, my hair down and even applying a little makeup. I do believe in less is more with makeup application. I prefer to wear a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen as my main makeup. Being fit at every age really allows us to feel good in our skin and confident about wearing what we want.

Older, wiser and definitely better is what comes with aging. It's an honor and privilege to live each day and being able to exercise is a gift. I believe in a quality life and in quality health. Eating healthy and exercise should be a natural extension of who we are as healthy people at every age. We also are more relaxed, don't sweat the small stuff and realize worry adds nothing to our day. Life is too short to entertain ugly mental stuff that doesn't nourish our soul in a positive way.

I will always be a strong motivator for all people and especially those over 50 who think getting fit is not possible. Becoming your best healthy self at every age is possible and it's a personal choice to make it happen.

Each of our journeys may differ but our goal to be fit and healthy a shared event. Life can be hard and it will be how we respond to every circumstance determining positive or negative growth.

When things feel hard is not the time to give up, eat like crap and not exercise. The result would only create an unhealthy and very unhappy person in the frump zone of life. Life is short and precious and not taking care of yourself is really wadding up your gift and throwing it on the floor.

Fighting for our fitness needs to happen at every age and regardless of our circumstances. Remember, age is just a number and doesn't define our fitness. What does define our fitness are the choices we make every day to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

How Fitness Helps Slow Down the Aging Process

Posted by whatsapp status on December 21, 2016 with No comments

Fitness actually is shown to slow down the aging process. I heard this today and was immediately excited and inspired. Think about how you feel when health and fitness aren't part of your life. Stressed, sluggish, ill and feeling old, right? When you start stopping is when you start getting older. Fitness works on the cellular, emotional and physical level. The better we care for our health and fitness, the better our body will be.

Fitness is the fountain of youth. If we don't make time for it, we will eventually be making time for illness. Our body ages daily, but there are things we can do to slow this process. Studies link eating healthy and exercise to longevity. I don't know about you, but I want to maintain the best body for life.

When we start stopping is the same as giving up. We get so caught up in believing fitness is a difficult process. We also become frustrated without instant results and begin shutting down. The negatives seem to outweigh the positives in our minds and ultimately lead to unhealthy choices.

You may believe the inability to lose 3lbs this week is a tragedy but how does that compare to someone who has lost a leg and still pushing?  We all need to fight for our fitness. This comes in different ways for each of us, but stopping is not an option. As long as we are taking positive steps toward our health goals, changes are happening. Have faith in the unseen and hold onto daily progress. Strength comes from the inside out. Don't start getting old and crumpled, feeling sorry for yourself because you decided to quit.

Age is just a number but we also create how we feel at every age and circumstance. Stop and suffer the consequences of aging more rapidly or continue and enjoy the vitality of youth. Life is full of choices and we are ultimately responsible for the outcome that is within our control.

TOSSING OUT THE TRASH

Posted by whatsapp status on August 06, 2014 with No comments

So many of us have a hard time accepting the great things about ourselves, the accomplishments achieved, the results gained, and instead zero in on what we think is negative.  I have to admit that I am guilty of this on occasion and I know my hubby would like to beat me over the lack of “mental game” head when I have a vocal slip. Why do we go right for that juggler of what we “think” is not a great attribute on our bodies, even if it is a work in progress? I for one am going to toss any negative stuff that may pop out of my mouth about myself into the mental trash can.  I do not allow negative talk in my studio, and I will not be a hypocrite behind closed doors.  So, next time I complain about how my butt is not as lifted, and go for a squeeze of disappointment on the cheeks, I will slap my own backside for that behavior.

The journey of this life is to be our BEST self at every age, and joining the  50+ club now means my bootie will not be as high and tight as my twenty something beautiful backside daughter (btw … got it from her Mama J), but I applaud that I am happy with my body overall.  Sometimes I think it feels difficult mentally to grow old and more like an inability to believe or accept that it is happening.  We go through the process of living each day not thinking about what is going on with our bodies with each passing day, month, or year.  The reality is that we are all growing older and the changes that go along with that are not an option.  I am not counting the options of medical science elective processes that are chosen to hide what is happening with our aging process and let’s face it, minor elective procedures stop working or look absolutely ridiculous as the years add up.  In my mind I still feel twenty-something, but the mirror reveals a truth that sometimes blows my mind and I am sure many can relate to what I am saying.

It is not that I am being a negative Nancy about me or my body, but I do miss my younger self sometimes. I believe that is an OK feeling to have as long as it does not interfere with accepting the beautiful person that I am right now.  The years have gone by in what seems like a blink of an eye and that is what is so unbelievable.  I look at my daughter and see myself years younger and WOW, if that is not a reality check.  That is when the meaning of life and how generations are ready to step up and into the position of where I am hits home. It truly is a beautiful thing and growing older is an honor and privilege, but for many it is scary to face or accept.   It really is OK to say that I am fifty years old and that I am happy with my fitness level and body appearance. Loving ourselves right where we are is what starts the positive mental game process of improving and progressing.

Trashing who we are, verbally attacking our bodies, and feeling crappy or guilty about it is not a healthy way to live.  It is important to achieve the best health and fitness at every age and that is what matters in addition to being happy through the process.  No one enjoys being around a negative Nancy or Ned, and that can stop with each of us by holding our tongues and immediately changing our thought process to something positive when those negatives try to knock at our door. In fact, it is important to take it out of our door and right into the trash.
